Mount Nebo is located 10 kilometers northwest from Madaba and has an elevation of 1,000 meters above sea level. Mount Nebo is considered to be where Moses saw the Promised Land before he died. As the Old Testament says, Moses lived out his final days and saw the Promised Land here which he would never enter. It as also said that Moses body may be buried but has yet to be proven.
Mount Nebo Madaba
We celebrated our first mass with Fr. Jo inside the church and saw the serpentine cross sculpture. We also see the best panoramic view of the Jordan River, Bethlehem, Jericho, Dead Sea, and Jerusalem. After Mount Nebo, we went to downtown Madaba and visited the St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
