How To Get To Pompeii From Naples

Ruins of Pompeii

Naples is the third-largest city in Italy by population, and it was know by it’s active volcano named Mount Vesuvius that destroyed the nearby Roman town Pompeii. We visited Naples for 1 day through cruise ship and we decided to go to Archeological City of Pompeii. Pompeii was an ancient Roman city near Naples in the Campania region of Italy. It was buried 13ft to 20ft high when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD and was excavated in the 19th and 20th century. The area is about 170 acres and recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Our first problem is how to get there and we don’t like to book an excursion inside the cruise because it’s too expensive. So, today I will give you 2 options on how to get to Pompeii from Naples Italy.

Pompeii To Naples Italy By Taxi

Taxi to Pompeii from Naples
Taxi In Europe

Taxi is one of the ways to get anywhere in Europe, and you can find them everywhere lining up near the train station or in front of the Port. We used taxi when we spend 2 days in Rome. You can also used the MyTaxi app and call a taxi from that application and the cost is 35 to 50 Euros.

Cons: The problem we had when we used the taxi going to Pompeii is most of the taxi drivers are fixing the price and they don’t want to used the meter. When you use the MyTaxi app, the drivers can edit the price when you get to your destination. So it’s more likely you might get scammed.

Pros: It’s convenient and fast.
